Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP has visited Glusburn Community Primary School, where he met pupils and staff and enjoyed a tour of the school.

The visit followed a group of pupils' trip to Parliament earlier this year, during which they impressed Julian with their enthusiasm, knowledge and thoughtful questions.

During his visit, Julian met Headteacher - Mrs Katie Smith, Deputy Head - Mr Neil Bithell and Co-Opted Governor - Tobias Neale, to tour the school, meet Cooper the school dog and speak with pupils about their education and future ambitions.

Commenting, Julian said, "It was a pleasure to visit Glusburn Community Primary School and see first-hand the excellent work taking place. The pupils were a credit to the school, confident, polite and engaged, and it was great to hear about the many opportunities available to them.

"I was particularly impressed by the school's commitment to inclusion, and the work being done to support pupils with special educational needs. My thanks go to Mrs Smith, all the staff, and the pupils who made me so welcome."

The school, which serves 381 pupils and was rated 'Good' by Ofsted, has developed a strong reputation for its inclusive ethos and commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of every child.
