Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP is encouraging residents in Settle, Bentham, Ingleton, and surrounding areas to explore free support services provided by Electricity North West to help reduce energy bills and register for additional care in case of power outages.
Electricity North West’s Extra Care Register - also known as the Priority Services Register - ensures that vulnerable residents such as older individuals, those with dementia, or people using dialysis machines receive targeted support during power disruptions. The company aims to register 95% of eligible households, but current estimates suggest only 79% are signed up in the Skipton and Ripon area.
Additionally, the Take Charge initiative supports over 25,000 customers annually by providing:
- Energy credit vouchers for gas and electricity
- Assistance applying for grant schemes
- Practical advice to reduce consumption
Commenting, Julian said, “These services are free and can make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable households. I encourage all eligible residents to register and take advantage of the support available.”
