Julian has met with a number of charities and organisations who support those with mental health conditions in Craven.
The MP spoke about the need to remove the stigma that is still attached to mental health problems. He also heard about the challenge faced by the groups, and the people they work with, including the particular issues caused by rural isolation.
Representatives from Airedale Bipolar UK, Craven Advocacy and Craven Mind were among those at the meeting in Skipton on Friday (11 October).
“There can still be a stigma attached to mental health problems and it is important we do all we can to break this down and talk openly about the issues involved.
“I wanted to hear from those who are providing support to people in Craven about the work they are doing and the challenges those who have to deal with mental health conditions face.
“I pay tribute to all those who are doing this excellent work and will take their concerns back to Westminster.”
