Skipton MP, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, has been informed by the Countryside Alliance that three businesses from his constituency have been named as finalists in the prestigious Countryside Alliance Awards 2025, also known as the "Rural Oscars." These awards celebrate the very best of rural produce, enterprise, heritage, and community spirit across the country.
The finalists from Julian's constituency are:
- Drake & Macefield Butchers in the Butcher category
- Clarendon Country Pub in the Pub category
- Town End Farm Shop in the Village Shop/Post Office category
Commenting, Julian said, "I am incredibly proud of the businesses in our community that have been recognised as finalists in the Countryside Alliance Awards. These awards highlight the dedication and hard work of our local entrepreneurs who contribute so much to our rural economy and community life."
The Countryside Alliance Awards received thousands of nominations. The judging process now moves to a public vote, with winners to be announced in the spring. Successful regional winners will then compete in the grand final at the House of Lords in June 2025.
Julian is encouraging residents to support the local finalists by voting for them via this link: https://www.research.net/r/NorthMP25. Voting is now open and closes on Sunday, 6th April.
Julian added, "The Countryside Alliance Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the diversity and resilience of our rural communities. I urge everyone to get involved and vote for our local businesses."
