Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, Member of Parliament for Skipton, met pupils from Water Street Community Primary School, Skipton during their educational visit to the Houses of Parliament on Thursday 26 March.
The visit, organised through the UK Parliament Education Centre, included a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster and a curriculum-linked workshop. Julian joined the group for a dedicated Q&A session, where pupils asked questions about Julian’s role as an MP, what he was doing to improve Skipton, and whether he had ever met the King.
Commenting Julian said, “It was fantastic to welcome pupils from Water Street Community Primary School to Parliament. Their questions were thoughtful, energetic and showed a real interest in how our democracy works.
I am always pleased to meet with school groups from across Skipton and Ripon in Parliament and in the constituency. It is of vital importance that young people see first-hand how decisions are made.”
The UK Parliament Education and Engagement Team delivers award-winning programmes for schools across the country, offering tours, workshops and outreach sessions designed to help young people understand the work of Parliament.
