Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP has welcomed Ruth Ive, her husband Andy and family to Parliament this week to congratulate Ruth on receiving an MBE in recognition of her outstanding service as a foster carer.
Ruth and Andy, from Burton-in-Lonsdale, have fostered more than 80 children over the past three decades, providing stability, care and support to young people during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
During the visit to Westminster, Julian had the opportunity to hear more about Ruth’s experiences as a foster carer and the lasting impact she has made on the children she has supported over the years.
Commenting, Julian said: “It was a real pleasure to welcome Ruth and her family to Parliament this week. Ruth and Andy have fostered more than 80 children over three decades, and the difference they have made to these children’s lives is truly remarkable. I was delighted to be able to congratulate Ruth in person on receiving an MBE for her extraordinary dedication and service.”
Ruth’s award recognises the compassion and commitment she has shown to generations of young people, many of whom have gone on to lead successful and fulfilling lives thanks in part to the support she provided.
