Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP recently welcomed pupils from Upper Wharfedale School to Westminster during their visit to Parliament.
The group toured the Palace of Westminster and took part in a parliamentary education programme before meeting with Julian, where the pupils presented their ideas for what they would change if they were in Government, and discussed their proposals with him.
There were a number of different ideas, including lowering bus fares, removing parking meters near small businesses, and a discussion about bans on social media use for under-16s. The pupils also had an opportunity to question Julian about his role as an MP.
Julian said, "It was fantastic to welcome students from Upper Wharfedale School to Parliament. These visits are a great opportunity for young people to see Parliament in action and learn more about the decisions that affect their communities."
"I am always pleased to meet local students in Westminster and hear their views on issues of the day. I hope they enjoyed their visit."
Julian thanked the staff and students for making the trip to London and encourages schools across the constituency to take advantage of Parliament's education and engagement programmes.
