Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP has met with Marie Burnham, Chair of Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV), during a visit to The Orchards in Ripon to discuss the future of mental health services across the region.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Julian to hear directly from the Trust's Chair about the challenges and opportunities facing local mental health provision, including services for children and young people, community mental health care, and ongoing work to improve patient outcomes.
Discussions also covered recent developments involving TEWV, including inspections of CAMHS services, the statutory inquiry into mental health services provided by TEWV, and wider efforts to strengthen the quality, safety and consistency of care provided.
Following the visit, Julian said, "It was very useful to meet with Marie Burnham and discuss the work being undertaken by TEWV to improve mental health services across our area.
"Access to high-quality mental health support is incredibly important for individuals and families, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the Trust's priorities and the steps being taken to strengthen services.
"I will continue to engage with TEWV and raise issues on behalf of constituents to help ensure people can access the care and support they need."
