Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP, Member of Parliament for Skipton and Ripon, visited Omega Solutions in Cross Hills on Friday, 13 February, to meet Managing Director Brian Churchyard and learn more about the company’s innovative work in reducing energy consumption and emissions in the food retail sector.
Omega Solutions, a three-year-old business based in Cross Hills, is helping shape low-carbon cooling and heating strategies and data management systems for major retailers, including ASDA, Co-op, Costco, Iceland, Walmart, and Motor Fuel Group.
During the visit, Sir Julian heard how Omega Solutions’ software has been developed to significantly reduce energy usage and emissions across food retail, a sector responsible for around 5% of the UK’s energy consumption.
Commenting Julian said, “It was great to visit Omega Solutions in Cross Hills and to hear about the impressive work being led locally to cut energy use and reduce emissions. It’s encouraging to see a young business from our area already supporting major retailers and helping drive the low-carbon transition in such an important sector."
Julian praised the team for their success and highlighted the importance of supporting innovative local businesses.
