Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP has praised the success of this year's Kilnsey Show after visiting the popular agricultural event and meeting farmers, local businesses, volunteers and visitors from across the Yorkshire Dales.
Held beneath the iconic Kilnsey Crag, the show brings together the very best of rural life, with livestock competitions, equestrian events, sheepdog trials, local produce, crafts, trade stands and family attractions drawing crowds from across the region.
During his visit, Julian spoke with farmers and agricultural representatives about the opportunities and challenges facing agriculture and met several local businesses and organisations showcasing their products and services.
Commenting Julian said, "It was fantastic to attend the Kilnsey Show again this year and see why it remains one of the premier agricultural events in the Yorkshire Dales.
"The show is a brilliant celebration of our rural communities, local farming, traditional skills and the many local businesses that make such an important contribution to our local economy.
"Agriculture remains at the heart of many communities across Skipton and Ripon, and events like the Kilnsey Show provide an important opportunity to showcase the quality, resilience and innovation of our local farming sector.
"I would like to thank everyone involved in organising this year's event. The hard work of the volunteers, committee members, exhibitors and participants has once again delivered a wonderful day for residents and visitors alike."
