Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP has received a response from Yorkshire Water Chief Executive Nicola Shaw regarding the ongoing water quality issues affecting parts of the HG3 2 area.
In her letter, which followed a call for action from Julian, Ms Shaw outlines the steps Yorkshire Water has taken following the detection of coliforms in the water supply earlier this month.
According to the letter, Yorkshire Water has taken a number of steps to address the water quality concerns in HG3, including flushing the network, installing non-return valves, and conducting extensive testing of both public and private supplies.
All affected households have been contacted directly, with daily bottled water deliveries in place. So far, 22 of the 34 properties under the Do Not Drink Order have been connected to an alternative supply, and testing is underway to confirm when the order can be lifted.
The company is working to connect the remaining properties and will only lift restrictions once two consecutive days of clear water samples are confirmed.
Commenting on the response, Julian said, "I welcome this update from Yorkshire Water and the progress being made to support affected residents. I hope their work will soon allow the Boil and Do Not Drink orders to be lifted for the affected homes and properties. I will continue to monitor the situation closely."
