Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP met with Inspector Paul Crabtree of North Yorkshire Police, along with North Yorkshire Councillor Andy Solloway, Skipton Town Councillor Brian McDaid, as well as officers from both councils, to discuss ongoing safety concerns at the bus station.
The police have been regularly patrolling the bus station, and will continue to do so into next week, focusing on key points of the day at which residents have reported issues.
Julian is continuing his push for permanent CCTV to be installed at the bus station, and has asked North Yorkshire Council to move quickly on this to reassure all users of the bus station, and so that images can be used when any issues arise.
Commenting after the meeting, Julian said: "This is a cross-party effort and I hope to see progress on the CCTV question shortly.
"I am grateful to Andy, Brian, Inspector Crabtree, as well as Skipton Town Council and North Yorkshire Council, who have responded quickly to recent incidents and the worry these have caused among local residents.
"I will continue to work with all the relevant organisations to ensure the bus station can be safe for all users, of all ages, at all times of day."
