Rt Hon Sir Julian Julian Smith KCB CBE MP is urging residents across Barden, Thornthwaite with Padside, Newall with Clifton, and neighbouring parishes, to share their views as North Yorkshire Council consults on proposed changes to parish governance arrangements.
The Community Governance Review (CGR) consultations cover proposals affecting Barden, Thornthwaite with Padside, and Newall with Clifton include potential parish mergers, boundary changes and alterations to local council representation.
Community Governance Reviews are conducted to ensure that parish arrangements reflect local identities, improve engagement, and support effective and convenient local government.
Residents are being invited to give their feedback as part of the second stage consultation process, which is now open.
The consultations will close on 11 June 2026.
Commenting, Julian Smith MP said, "These proposals could have a significant impact on local communities. I would encourage residents in affected areas to take a few minutes to review the plans and share their views with North Yorkshire Council before the deadline."
