Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP has attended a parliamentary reception celebrating the national My Money Week 2026 campaign, hosted by Young Enterprise at Portcullis House.

The Skipton and Ripon constituency has been recognised as one of the top 15 in the country for participation in the financial education initiative, which equips young people with the knowledge and confidence to manage money effectively.

Three local schools signed up to take part this year: Bentham Community Primary School, Cedar House School and Giggleswick School.

At the reception, Julian joined educators, students and campaign organisers to celebrate the impact of the programme and discuss how more schools can be supported to deliver high-quality financial education.

Speaking after the event, Julian said, “It was great to attend the My Money Week reception and to celebrate the fantastic effort by schools in Skipton and Ripon.

“I am pleased that Bentham Community Primary, Cedar House School and Giggleswick School took part. Financial education is essential in helping young people build confidence and make informed decisions about their future, and this programme plays a vital role in that.”

My Money Week, run by Young Enterprise, provides free resources, lesson plans and activities to schools across the UK, helping thousands of young people develop essential life skills around budgeting, saving and financial planning.
