Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP is delighted to announce the winners of his Local Pub Awards 2026.
Over the summer, constituents were invited to nominate and vote for their favourite local pubs and members of pub staff, helping to recognise the important role that local hospitality businesses play in communities throughout Skipton and Ripon.
Nominations were received across four categories: Best Pub, Best High Street Pub, Best Rural Pub and Staff Member of the Year.
The winners of the Local Pub Awards 2026 are:
- Best Pub: The Plough, Wigglesworth
- Best High Street Pub: The Woolly Sheep Inn, Skipton and The Castle Inn, Skipton (joint winners)
- Best Rural Pub: The Plough, Wigglesworth
- Staff Member of the Year: Tracy of the Helwith Bridge Inn, Horton in Ribblesdale and Roz & Calvin of The Castle Inn, Skipton (joint winners)
Commenting on the awards, Julian said, "The response to this year's awards has once again demonstrated just how highly local people value their pubs and the people who work in them.
"Pubs are far more than places to enjoy food and drink. They are employers, community hubs, meeting places and an important part of local life. Across Skipton and Ripon, pubs play a vital role in bringing people together and supporting our local economy.
"I would like to congratulate all of this year's winners and thank every pub and member of staff who was nominated. The high standard of nominations received shows the strength of our local hospitality sector and the important contribution it makes to communities across our constituency."
Certificates of recognition have been sent to all category winners, and Julian will visit The Plough in Wigglesworth to present their awards in person.
